The General Assembly Moderator Declares Denominational Day of Prayer

Day of Prayer and Fasting 2021. I am declaring a denominational day of Prayer and Fasting on Ash Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Last year we observed a day of prayer and fasting on Ash Wednesday to encourage Cumberland Presbyterians to bear witness to God’s mighty act of reconciling love accomplished in Jesus Christ by which the sins of the world are forgiven. Building upon that day, it is appropriate to call the Church beyond a one-day observation and live out its purpose and mission to share the good news every day.

Drawing from the language of The Confession of Faith for Cumberland Presbyterians and The Catechism for Cumberland Presbyterians, an affirmation of faith and commitment to witness has been written by Rev. T. J. Malinoski to encourage and inspire Cumberland Presbyterians to announce the good news of Jesus Christ in authentic ways as we live out the mission of the Church. Join me on February 17, as we seek to live out our purpose as the Church and share the good news of Jesus Christ every day.

Keeping Connected

with Cumberland Presbyterians

During a time when “social distancing” has become an every day phrase in our speech, hearing and behavior we can feel a bit secluded and isolated from other Cumberland Presbyterians. One remedy to fix the social distancing blues (reads like a song in the making) is to listen to a podcast created for Cumberland Presbyterians called Cumberland Road. This weekly podcast includes conversations with Cumberland Presbyterians sharing their faith journey; what God has done and is doing in their lives.

Previous guests include missionaries, ministers, students, past and present moderators of General Assembly, lay people, and denominational staff. You can download and subscribe to Cumberland Road on podcasting sites such as Apple, Amazon Music, Google and Spotify. Cross Culture Ministry News

The Cross Culture Ministry is having the monthly gathering on January 25 via Zoom. Candidate David Montoya is leading it and it focusing on planning our year and our time. If you would like to be involved, please email Rev. Johan Daza at jdaza@cumberland.org to be included in future notifications regarding Cross Culture Ministry.

Additionally, PAS is offering a class in English with simultaneous interpretation into Spanish via Zoom. MMT is providing the interpretation through the office of Cross-Culture Ministries USA Program.

The first class is led by Dr. Tom Sanders on Spiritual Gifts on January 23rd and 30^th.

The second class is in March with Dr. Lynn Thomas on Global Missions.
