Renovations Ahead & Brief Facility Closure |
Dear Southwest YMCA Member,
We're excited to share that renovations will soon begin at your Southwest YMCA. The first phase involves major construction work (demolition, flooring installation, concrete pouring and other noisy, dusty activity). To keep everyone safe, we will have a temporary facility closure during this time:

Wellness Center: Closed — no gym, pool, fitness equipment, classes or personal training sessions available.

Y Academy & Out of School Time care: Open
- Basketball Practice: Will take place as scheduled — look for communication from your coach
- Swim Team: Will have regularly scheduled evening practices
- Beyond Hunger Market: Open

Breakfast with Santa: Will take place as scheduled on Dec. 14

During facility closure, for programs taking place, use west entrance — access through gate near white tent.

What will the experience be like during the renovation? |
When the facility reopens on December 15, you'll be able to use the main entrance again and enjoy your regular classes and programs. You may still notice some construction signs, temporary partitions, blocked-off areas, or a dumpster outside, but the Southwest Y will be fully open and ready for you. Please follow posted signage throughout the facility to give the construction crew space and ensure everyone’s safety during renovations.

How long will the renovation take? |
Here's the current construction timeline — and we'll continue to share updates as the project moves forward:

- November: Pre-construction planning and preparation — you'll start seeing workers on site soon.
- Dec. 4 – 5: Parking impacts
- Dec. 7: Construction begins!
- Dec. 7 – 14: Facility closure with select programs still available, accessible through the west entrance (enter through the gate near the white tent).

Dec. 14: Breakfast with Santa, 9 – 11 AM — reserve your spot!
- Dec. 15: Facility re-opens with all programs and services available. Enter through main entrance.
- Early 2026: Renovations complete and ready for you to enjoy!

Yes! You have access to our five other Ys in the Denver metro area — including Kids Night Out at Schlessman-University Hills and Littleton. And you can access on-demand fitness and wellness sessions through YMCA360.

How will these renovations improve the Southwest Y?
|
This remodel will enhance your experience and expand how we serve the community, with a more welcoming and accessible entrance, a new teaching kitchen for classes and nutrition programs and added space to support food distribution for local children and families.
