| Stage 2 Fire Ban Lifted; Stage 1 Fire Restrictions in Place
As of Friday, Aug. 5, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office lifted its Stage 2 Fire Ban and re-enacted Stage 1 Fire Restrictions for all unincorporated Jefferson County west of C-470, Colorado Highway 93, and Colorado Highway 121 to the Platte River. The lower restrictions were reinstated due to current conditions being more favorable for wildfire prevention than a Stage 2 Fire Ban. Conditions will continue to be monitored and restrictions will be adjusted as necessary.

| Vandalism in Prairie Dog Colony
The Ken-Caryl Ranch Open Space Department and our contractor, Prairie Dog Action, are in the process of relocating the prairie dogs in the Manor House Open Space to a new location, also on Ken-Caryl Ranch Open Space. From Manor House Trail, you may have noticed cage-type traps set around the prairie dog colony. Some of these traps were recently vandalized, which has led to the death of least one small mammal. Notification signs posted around the site have also been vandalized and removed. Significant resources have been dedicated to this project, including countless volunteer hours. The people working on this project are committed to the humane treatment of these animals and making sure they thrive at their new home. This destructive activity is illegal, harmful to wildlife and threatens the integrity of the project. When in the Manor House area, please be aware of this criminal activity, and let the Rangers know if you see anyone tampering with the traps. The Rangers can be reached at 303-979-1876, ext. 170.

Trees and shrubs can be low-hanging pedestrian hazards or encroach on sidewalks and streets, blocking passage and compromising visibility. Please take a walk down your own sidewalk to test for obstacles. If you encounter any issues, please cut back trees or shrubs that may be blocking or limiting visibility on a street or sidewalk.
