Dear RIT Faculty and Staff,
We’re reaching out with early information – already shared with Faculty Senate in April and Staff Council in May – about RIT’s 2026 benefits offerings and open enrollment. Please read the following important information.
|
-
This year’s Benefits Open Enrollment will take place from Monday, Sept. 29 through Friday, Oct. 17. This one-time schedule change supports our transition to Workday, which will go live on Jan. 1, 2026.
-
Please note: This is the last year you will use the Oracle self-service portal to enroll in benefits.

Medical Plan Contributions
|
-
Like many universities and employers nationwide, RIT continues to see rising costs in health care. Despite our efforts to limit cost increases, contribution rates for both the university and employees will rise across all plans in 2026.
- Your actual increase will depend on your plan selection, coverage level, and salary level. We’ll provide tools and education to help you understand your options and estimate changes to your costs.

Plan Updates and New Option
|
- As we announced last year, beginning Jan. 1, 2026, the non-creditable POS B No Drug plan will no longer be available.
-
POS A, POS B, POS D, and the PPO plan will continue to be offered. To provide additional choice for employees, RIT will introduce a High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) offering in 2026 that includes access to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
-
The Benefits Advisory Group, comprised of faculty and staff from various ranks, levels, colleges and divisions, played a pivotal role in recommending that the university adopt this change and implement the new plan. We’re excited to offer this option and will share more about HDHPs and how they work in the weeks ahead.
|
We recognize that choosing the right benefits for you and your family is an important decision, and we’re committed to making the process as clear and smooth as possible. Specific plan options, including 2026 contribution levels, will be shared in late summer/early fall. You will have access to helpful tools, plan comparisons, and educational materials to help you feel fully informed heading into this year’s open enrollment.
Thank you for taking time to review this information. We’ll continue to share updates and reminders via RIT email and the HR website as it becomes available.
