WEEKLY REPORT NO. 1

An Advance Commitment to
Support the 2024 Operating Budget
The annual pledge campaign is an invitation to Christ Church parishioners to join in contributing funds to: pay day-to-day bills; make community grants; maintain our historic buildings; pay for utilities and supplies; conduct Sunday School, Confirmation classes, and Youth programs; provide Bible study and many small groups; and offer daily and weekly worship services, and music for all.
We thank you for your statement of faith and commitment to our Church during this year and earnestly hope you will dedicate a portion of your 2024 household budget to Christ Church and its mission.

A Personal Perspective on Stewardship
A special message from the Senior Warden
launching the annual pledge effort for 2024.
Dear Christ Church Parishioners,
I appreciate so very much your confidence in electing me to serve as your Senior Warden at a time of exciting growth and change. Over these past several months my vantage point has enlarged and deepened and I can report to you that Christ Church is thriving in so many ways. It is thriving despite the secular headwinds that all Christian churches are facing today. Remarkably in our fractured and increasingly secular society, Christ Church is doing extremely well with new families coming to worship, with Sunday school attendance surging, and with a vast array of events and programs enriching and strengthening our sense of community and our service to others. Our music program is inspiring and second to none among our fellow churches. Our Rector and his small team are accomplishing so very much spiritually and pastorally. Father Tim is leading a vibrant and caring church while reaching out to those in distress as far away as embattled Ukraine.
A quick survey of a few recent developments tells a story of the myriad ways in which Christ Church is succeeding in its uplifting mission:
  • 135 new visitors walked through the doors in the last 12 months.
  • Parish groups have increased from 8 to 10 due to greater demand in subject areas and offering greater variety in programming.
  • 20 parishioners signed up for a Newcomers' fall course which is a 75% increase from last year.
  • The Men's Ministry has seen monthly engagements of over 30 men throughout the year.
  • The Young Professionals group has seen a 50% increase in participation from last year and continues to attract new young professionals each week.
  • The Lenten Series had an average attendance of 35 members each Tuesday, a 30% increase from the year before
  • While programming has grown, we at the same time have added a new state of the art HVAC system and made numerous improvements and repairs to our historic campus. The building and grounds are now in the best condition they have been in decades.
  • This summer 15 young adults joined the Scotland Pilgrimage and came home with meaningful and lasting memories, not to be under-estimated and reminiscent of T.S. Eliot’s poetic imploring… We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time. It is no exaggeration to say that the Pilgrimage is life-shaping and a wonderful experience for all who travel that road together.
In my present capacity, I see day-to-day the importance of pledging. In our enterprise of faith and good will, like all enterprises, annual income is indispensable and makes all that we see around us possible. Now is the season to make all these things secure with your annual pledge dollars.
It is not how much some give but that all give some. The power is in the numbers and I urge you to renew your pledge, increase it if you are able, and if you are a new parishioner please help us to fund all our good works at Christ Church.
Faithfully,
Scott Campbell, Senior Warden

A Faithful Fiscal Fact
The pledge campaign for 2023 resulted in a record-setting $1,514,788 of commitments from 374 households.

Do You Know?
If you approach a pledging decision by setting aside a share of household income, this year’s pledge letter packet includes a table that may help to simplify the math.
