In-Person Commencement Scheduled May 15 & 16 at Kauffman Stadium

The University of Missouri-Kansas City is pleased to announce that in-person ceremonies honoring 2020 and 2021 graduates will be hosted on Saturday, May 15, and Sunday, May 16, at Kauffman Stadium.
UMKC will host four ceremonies in Kauffman Stadium, three dedicated to the class of 2021 and one dedicated to 2020 graduates returning for the ceremony. Graduates will be able to cross the stage, with COVID-19 restrictions in place. Each graduate is limited to two guests for the in-person ceremony. Limitations are in place so UMKC can observe the city and the stadium’s social distancing guidelines for keeping the public safe during the pandemic. The commencement ceremonies will be livestreamed for guests that will be unable to attend. Parking at the stadium will be complimentary.

UMKC is working diligently with groups across campus to plan this in-person Commencement celebration, including External Relations, Student Affairs and the Student Government Association. Details about the Spring Commencement ceremony are still being worked out and information is being updated here. If you need to add additional guests please send an email to chancellor@umkc.edu. Please include your name, degree program and the number of additional tickets you are requesting. Names on the waiting list will be contacted on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional information about ticketing will be available soon and will be coming from the Chancellor’s office, via email.

On-Campus COVID Vaccinations Available to Students, Faculty, and Staff

COVID-19 vaccinations are available by appointment for UMKC faculty, staff and students through our School of Pharmacy. The University will be offering a first-dose vaccination clinic at the Health Sciences Building on Friday, April 30. Second-dose appointments can be made at the clinic.

If you were unable to attend the April 16 mass vaccination event on campus or the upcoming School of Pharmacy Friday clinics but would like to be vaccinated, there are two options to make an appointment for COVID-19 vaccines at Truman Medical Centers/University Health:

1) Call (816) 404-CARE (2273) and press option 1 (available for all UMKC students, faculty and staff).
2) Register online for the TMC/University Health COVID-19 Vaccine wait list (must be a Missouri resident).

What to expect:

  • TMC/UH is not accepting walk-ins at this time.
  • After making your appointment you will receive a text message confirming your appointment date and time for your first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Masks are required for your appointment. Please bring your ID and insurance card.
  • You will be screened for symptoms.
  • The federal government covers the cost of the vaccine itself, and we bill your insurance to cover the administration of the vaccine. You will not receive a bill. If you do not have insurance, you will still receive the vaccine at no cost to you.
  • Once you receive the vaccine, you will be monitored for 15 minutes for any reactions, and your second dose will be scheduled.

    Location:
TMC - Health Science District (Hospital Hill)
University Health 2 building – free parking across the street

Free COVID-19 Testing for Students

Rapid COVID-19 testing is available free and by appointment to all students, faculty and staff, whether or not they are experiencing symptoms. Testing takes place in a convenient drive-up clinic that allows those being tested to stay in their vehicles. The test involves anterior nose swabbing, much less discomforting than interior nose swabbing. Results take about 15 minutes. Testing is provided by appointment, so visit the following link to schedule your test today!
