As we all prepare to return to school during these extraordinary times, we understand that getting our students to school safely is the first step. While we know that our students use several modes of transportation, many of our students have historically taken Metra and other public transportation to get to Fenwick on a daily basis. We understand that given the current health concerns with COVID, many parents and students may be uncomfortable using these public modes of transportation.
In order to accommodate those students, we have developed a transportation plan which will be in place for as long as we are operating in this hybrid model. The prices for these routes take into consideration the school schedule which has students coming to school 2 days a week (freshman 3 days a week). Also, since we do not know how long this plan will be in place, we will be charging a monthly fee rather than full payment upfront. In order to allow for accurate scheduling of routes, the monthly fee is nonrefundable after the fifth day of the month.
This interim transportation plan includes routes to pick up students at the train stations that they would normally be leaving from. This will require several stops and potentially earlier pick up times. In order to provide specific routes and pick up times, we will need to know how many students would need to be picked up at various locations. Only then can we provide a more detailed plan. If we are not able to handle the routes with our buses, we may need to contract with an outside service that could impact the price of the route.
Since it is important for us to know the ridership for each route, families will need to reserve their spot on the bus by July 24th and provide the pick-up location.
