March Newsletter

Just a quick note before many of us head out on Spring Break. We hope the semester is moving along smoothly and this note finds you and your families doing well.
There will be more word to pass in the coming weeks regarding end of semester events and graduation.
As always, please stay in touch and reach out if we can do anything to support you or your families. We look forward to hopefully seeing you soon!

Military Appreciation Lacrosse Game

Mark your calendars! Come out to Koskinen Stadium on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. to watch the Duke men's lacrosse team take on UNC. All military-affiliated students (active duty, reserve, veteran) will receive a complimentary ticket by showing their ID's at the ticket office.
The team will be recognizing the work of the Lead the Way Fund that was created in honor of Jimmy Regan, a former Duke Lacrosse alum, who was tragically lost in 2007 while serving in Iraq. Let us know if you have any questions about the event.

We can't wait to see everyone. Go Duke!

Diversity & Inclusion Career Networking Event

The Career Center will be hosting a career networking event at Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity at the Bryan Center on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Currently, RTI International, Capital One, Accenture, and Appian will be in attendance. Student veterans are strongly encouraged to attend! Our GA, John, will be there as well if you want to swing by and introduce yourself. Again, let us know if you have any questions about the event.

Student Veteran Council

As another part of our outreach strategy, John will be convening a Student Veteran Council this semester to connect with the student veterans from across campus. If you are interested in representing your school or program, please reach out and let us know!

For any questions or more information, please email John (our graduate assistant) at john.pratson@duke.edu

University Travel Guidance - Coronavirus

You should have received multiple emails this week about coronavirus and travel advisories, including one from President Price and one from Vice Provost/Vice President Mary Pat McMahon titled "Spring Break Advisory - Important Health and Safety Travel Update." This is a rapidly evolving situation; please continue to check the Duke coronavirus response website for updates.

Ways to Connect

As a Reminder
Duke's Office of Student Veterans is here to support you – our students who have served or who are serving in the Armed Forces – and your families. As part of Duke's Division of Student Affairs, Duke Student Veterans offers support, resources, and community to our Student Vets, their families, and allies. Duke offers support through the Counseling and Psychological Services office and immediate help is available through the Veterans Crisis Line  (1-800-273-8255, Press 1). As always, we are here if anything is needed.
