 ASB Board Elections:
Call for board nominations 
The American Society of Biomechanics is looking for outstanding individuals to fill the following important positions: 
  • President-Elect: 1-year term, rolling into the President role in August 2025 and to Past-President in August 2026 (each is a 1-year term)
  • Program Chair-Elect: 1-year term, rolling into the Program Chair (also a 1-year term)
  • Treasurer-Elect: 1-year term, rolling into the Treasurer role in August 2025 (a 3-year term)
  • Secretary: 3-year term
  • Student Representative: 2-year term
  • Nominating Committee (2 positions): 1-year term
Members of the ASB are entitled to nominate themselves to serve on the Board. Members are also invited to contact suitable candidates and encourage them to submit their name for consideration or nominate them with their approval.

The selection of the slate will be made by the Nominating Committee consisting of the Past-President, Rakié Cham, and two elected members, Erica Bell and Wendi Weimar.
All terms start in August 2024.

    Submission for affinity groups
    If you are an organizer of a biomechanics affinity group and would like to assemble during the Annual Meeting, please email James Finley, ASB Program Chair, with a description of your event and anticipated needs for space.
    Requests for space MUST be received prior to June 1, 2024, for consideration. Please see details here

    B-SURE: Applications now accepted

    Application deadline: April 5th 
    We are dedicated to fostering a professional community that values and advances diversity and inclusion. As part of our ongoing efforts to promote increased participation of underrepresented groups within the Society, ASB is proud to announce the continuation of funding opportunities designed to support underrepresented and underserved communities in the field of biomechanics.
    The Biomechanics Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (B-SURE) is specifically tailored for undergraduate students or individuals in similar positions who belong to under-served and minoritized communities. This program aims to provide participants with an immersive summer research experience, allowing them to expand their knowledge and understanding of biomechanics.
    Please note that international students who wish to apply for the B-SURE program must already be studying or working legally in the USA at the time that they apply

    Upcoming ASB awards deadlines

    March 25, 2024:
    ASB Pre-Doctoral Award 
    ASB Early Career Achievement Award
     
    Journal Awards, Student Travel Awards and the 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition are managed via the abstract submission process.
     
    Student Travel Awards
    Graduate (Ph.D. or Master’s) and undergraduate students submitting abstracts to the meeting are encouraged to check the box on the abstract submission page. Awards will be given for both merit and need and consist in a complimentary registration. 
     
    Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition
    Graduate students can indicate in the 3MT compeition during the abstract submission page. 3MT presentations should cover the entire body of work in a participant’s dissertation. Winner(s) of the 3MT contest will receive a $300 check. Interested students will be contacted after the abstract submission deadline to provide additional information.
    Seeking Applications for the 2024 ASB Diversity Travel Awards

    These awards aim to promote diversity and inclusion among conference attendees by providing funding to individuals who otherwise may not have the means to participate.  The awards will provide reimbursement for travel, lodging, registration, and meal expenses for the full duration of the conference.

      Prepare to ignite your creativity in our thrilling biomechanics-themed t-shirt design contest! We're calling upon artists, designers, and enthusiasts (ASB membership not required) to push the boundaries of imagination and create the next iconic t-shirt design.

      Whether you're inspired by drawings, words, photos, or beyond, let your vision of biomechanics shine through in a striking one-sided, 2-3 color design. The sky's the limit as ASB members will cast their votes for the most outstanding design.

      The chosen design will not only earn recognition but also a generous cash prize of $500!

        ASB 2024: Call for Award Reviewers
        We are looking for reviewers for awards at all levels (graduate students - senior faculty) and also encourage participation from those outside academia. Interested individuals should email asbawards@asbweb.org with their name, current institution, and current title. ASB membership must be current to participate as a reviewer.
