Hello, first_name !
Welcome back to campus! Now that we're a full week into the semester, we hope you're settling into a new rhythm for the winter and spring months.
GSA is back and ready to serve you with another semester full of events and advocacy! Be sure to read these biweekly emails (along with the Two Week Outlook!), keep up with us on social media, and regularly check the calendar on our website (which also has links to an abundance of useful resources).

Join GSA leaders and department representatives for the first assembly meeting of the semester! We'll provide lunch (pizza), updates on what we're working on, and time for you to connect with committees to plan and prepare for events this semester. This month's guest is Dr. Mark Bryant – Director of International Student & Scholar Services – who will share information about all the resources available to international students along with current projects to improve the student experience. Can't join us in person? Join us on Zoom!
We invite ALL grad students to attend the monthly assembly meetings because this is an important space where you can make your voice heard! We talk about things like policy changes we're working on, upcoming events, and occasionally bring in guest speakers who share about resources just for grad students.

We have a limited number of BEAR Grants available for departments to use for recruitment of new graduate students and promoting collegiality, scholarship, and community among current graduate students and faculty. The Graduate School and GSA jointly fund these grants, which have a maximum of $300. Departments will be expected to contribute an additional 50% of the requested grant amount, making the maximum amount of funding a single department may apply for in one school year $450 ($300 from the BEAR Grant, $150 from the department). To learn more and apply for a BEAR Grant, visit the GSA website.

The Graduate Writing Center is a resource for all Baylor graduate student writers (online and on-campus) who desire to improve their writing skills. Consultants help with writing projects at all stages of the composition process—generating ideas, organizing, and revising—whether students are working on academic papers, reports, personal statements and applications, papers intended for publication, theses, dissertations, or grant proposals. You can make an appointment here.

The Daily Bread Cafe (located in East Village Dining Commons) offers hot and refrigerated meals to all students, faculty, and staff for only $2 (weekdays, 11am - 2pm). This location also accepts meal swipe donations and canned food items for Baylor's On-Campus Food Pantry. Join us in giving back to the Baylor community!

In addition to our work advocating for reduced rates in dining halls, all Baylor students can grab $2 meals at the Penland POD. This is a great way to ensure you’re eating nutritious food at a price that works with your grad student budget.

|
All Baylor students are eligible to make use of The Store (located on the 1st floor of Sid Rich) as often as you need to; all you need to do is complete the intake form and within 1 working day you will receive an email to your Baylor email address, notifying you that you can use your Baylor ID card to swipe yourself into The Store when you need to.
