🎂This Month We Celebrate the 80th Birthday of Our Founder & Visionary, Jim Coghlin

15-years ago, at a time when most people would be retiring and winding down their careers, Jim started the nonprofit DetecTogether. His passion stemmed from witnessing the devastating toll delayed cancer diagnoses took on cherished friends, family, and loved ones — experiences unfortunately shared by too many of us today.

Under his leadership, the organization has pursued its mission of empowering individuals to recognize the early symptoms of cancer and motivating them to take the right actions to detect cancer early, when it's most curable.

Jim has embodied the belief that "health is wealth," advocating tirelessly for proactive healthcare actions and early cancer detection to save lives. His commitment, compassion, and generosity have inspired and touched the lives of countless individuals.

Notice subtle and persistent health changes such as bowel habits, blood in your stool, abdominal pain, or unexplained weight loss. Learn to recognize the early signs of cancer and how to take action quickly.

Young adults continue to need our early cancer detection roadmap:

30% increase in U.S. adolescent and young adult cancer incidences since 1973 and continues to rise through 2023¹
75% of young adults report they saw at least 2 different physicians before colon cancer diagnosis (36% saw 3 or more physicians)²
50% of young adults under 30 indicate they don't have a primary care physician²
Late-stage breast cancer diagnosis and mortality rates for young women are increasing, and 80% are detected through self-exams³

New York State Fire & Emergency Services Health, Wellness and Safety Symposium

DetecTogether recently attended the Symposium to support the health and wellness of firefighters. We presented 3 Steps Detect and incorporated interactive activities focused on the barriers firefighters & first responders may experience when seeking care. Firefighter attendees can now recognize early cancer symptoms and know when to seek healthcare. If you would like DetecTogether, to present at your first responders' conference, please contact us.
