Marketing Students Win Big in Regional Competitions

Marketing students competed in a regional marketing competition which was hosted by the American Marketing Association (AMA) New Orleans Chapter and the Regional Black Chamber of Commerce. COBA students presented their pitch to Element Beverage, a local beverage company and won 2nd place in the competition.
The Beach at UNO held its inaugural StartupUNO event on November 16. Andrew Bradford, pictured right in both lower photos, won first place and the audience favorite prize at the pitch competition. StartupUNO is a pitch competition open to all current UNO students with an idea for a new product, service or business and is designed to provide feedback and mentorship to accepted student team to help move their idea to the market.

The Business Career Coaching Center (BCCC) is teaming up with Gulf Coast Bank for the Spotlight the Employer Series. The first of the series is scheduled for Tuesday, February 7th. Gulf Coast will provide lunch for the students along with information about internships and the benefits of interning.
Postlethwaite & Netterville will host the second lecture in the Spotlight the Employer lunch on Tuesday, March 7th.

Wells Fargo Advisors Team Up with UNO Finance Majors

Wells Fargo Advisors are offering compensation for students that take a study course offered by CeriFi, a financial exam prep company. This study course prepares students for the Security Industry Exam which is required for those wanting to go into the insurance, financial advising, wealth management or stock broking areas. Students that pass this exam have a great advantage entering the job market.

Dr. Elyria Kemp was a recipient of a grant from the Harold & Muriel Berkman Charitable Foundation. Professor Harold W. Beckman was the Founding Fellow of the Academy of Marketing Science and his legacy is dedicated to the advancement of marketing science.
