Boost Response Rates and Utility of Course Evaluations

Here are some strategies for improving response rates and generating useful feedback for your end-of-course evaluations.
  • Discuss the importance of course evaluations with students, sharing that you value their feedback and explaining how you will use it to improve teaching.
  • Remind students that the feedback they provide is anonymous.
  • Remind students in various ways to complete their course evaluations thoughtfully.
    • Make announcements in class.
    • Send reminder emails through What Do You Think? (link found under MyMiami>My Courses>Course Evaluations).
    • Include reminders in course content on Canvas.
  • Set aside class time for students to fill out their course evaluations; if possible, do not wait until the final class meeting.
