Sharing What We Know Best: FUN & Enriching Activities!
Session Share: Lea Superhero Party
Thursday May 14th Lea UACS Enrichment staff and students were asked to dress up as their favorite superhero character or create one of their own; celebrating the superhero within! During this 2-hour session, staff & students participated in various superhero themed games and actives. Session activities were designed to encourage participants to feel empowered to step up for themselves and others. Students participated in a chat and chew group discussion to create their own superhero profile, a power affirmation brain break to help realize their power within, as well as an SEL step up activity and Harambee Power Chant!

K8 Feature: How to Be Mad Scientists!

Gather together, mad scientists! "How to be Mad Scientists" transforms our tables into laboratories as we learn to experiment like scientists. We've created volcano eruptions and splashed around in water, and this week we're folding paper airplanes shaped like everything from basic darts to UFOS and doves, to test their flying ability! Get a head start by trying out these instructions.
Enter our laboratories on Tuesdays at 4:30pm by joining us on Google Meets: meet.google.com/fzj-kbkx-vkz

HS Feature: Lacrosse Village Initiative

The Lacrosse Village Initiative consists of high school and club lacrosse teams working together to provide COVID-19 relief for healthcare workers and community members in the Greater Philadelphia Area. This project was started by the coaches at Eyekonz Sports, Shipley Girls Lacrosse, and Conestoga Girls Lacrosse in early April. Through the initiative, participating teams donate meal kits to local food pantries, appreciation kits to local healthcare facilities, hygiene kits to shelters, and cash donations to Philabundance.
Sayre High School lacrosse players have been on the front lines, organizing these endeavors alongside other teams in the tri-state area. Additionally, they are partnering with The Dr. Bernett L. Johnson, Jr. Sayre Health Center where free Covid- 19 testing is being offered.
You can visit the Lacrosse Village or Eyekonz Sports websites for more information! Check out the @eyekonzsports Instagram page to see the Lacrosse Village Initiative's feature on Fox Philly 29!

Vote!

The Pennsylvania Primary Election is taking place one week from today! Be safe and ensure that your voice is heard this Primary Election. On June 2nd, polls will be open from 7am - 8pm, and if you are in line at 8pm, the poll workers must allow you to vote. Find your polling place here and make a plan to vote with your friends and family! If you haven't voted by mail, or you're worried your mail-in ballot won't be received by the county by June 2 at 8pm, you can vote via provisional ballot at your local polling location. Learn more about voting in person here!
