Film: “Citizen Kane” (1941)

Summer Film School begins with a study of cinematography. When a reporter is assigned to decipher newspaper magnate Charles Foster Kane’s (Orson Welles) dying word “Rosebud,” his investigation gradually reveals the fascinating portrait of a complex man who rose from obscurity to staggering heights. Closures, Openings, Limited Hours and Cancellations

ND Service Center Relocates to Hammes Hub

On Monday, July 1, the OIT transitioned computer hardware support to the Hammes Technology Hub at the Notre Dame Bookstore. It will continue to provide faculty, staff and students, computer hardware support for university-owned machines as well as personally-owned machines. Specifically, the ND Bookstore will provide warranty hardware repair for Lenovo, Apple and Dell products.

Engineering Library in Fitzpatrick Hall to close July 12

The Engineering Library in Fitzpatrick Hall will permanently close at 5 p.m. Friday, July 12. The services and collections currently offered by the Engineering Library will be relocated to Hesburgh Library.

Faculty and staff with available houses or rooms to rent are encouraged to list this space on the University’s offcampus.nd.edu website. This site is available for students, post-doctoral scholars, faculty and staff to view, filter and compare listings of available properties for rent. The site also contains a roommate finder (available to students only) and a page for buying/selling property.

Research Participants Needed

The CEED Lab is seeking individuals (fluent in English and 18-35 years old), for a study on how we process facial expressions. You will be paid $25 for participating in a 2.5 hour session; you will be invited to participate in an at-home data collection (up to $75). If interested, email ceedlab@nd.edu.

Research Subjects Needed

The Human Computer Interaction Lab is seeking individuals to compare four different visual representations of deep breathing training in mobile apps. This involves a 15-to-30 minute session where you will be recorded on video and audio. You will receive a $5 Starbucks gift card. If you are interested, please email the researcher at tchuanro@nd.edu.

Earn $10 by Being a Participant in an Experiment!

The psychology department is seeking individuals to participate in a study that investigates how people coordinate with each other to complete a search task. The experiment will last about 45 minutes and scheduling is flexible. Artful Yoga

Relax and recharge through Artful Yoga. Join yoga instructor Steve Krojniewski for a class that emphasizes the meditative frame of mind, relevant both to experiencing a work of art and practicing yoga. RecSports will provide mats or you can bring your own. We will practice in our courtyard when the weather is pleasant.

Safety, Parking and Traffic

Circle Drive Behind Main Building Closed

The circle drive north of the Main Building (Sorin Drive) will be closed for two weeks, beginning Monday, July 8. The planned closure is due to utilities work that must be completed in preparation for the Brownson Hall Replacement Project.

Social Gatherings

playtime@stepan

Playtime is a chance to move and meet other ND students, student spouses and families. On various Tuesdays this summer, Stepan Center and the Ricci Sand Volleyball Courts will be open for unstructured play activities, board games, walking and fellowship. Light snacks are provided. playtime@stepan is open to both parenting and married students. Free.

Tiki Tuesdays

Tech Upgrades and Service Interruptions

Okta Goes Live July 29 — Have You Enrolled?

Okta, the new two-step login service, goes live on Monday, July 29. All faculty, staff and students must enroll in Okta, and select the preferred devices required to complete the two-step login process. Completing the enrollment before July 29 will ensure uninterrupted access to Notre Dame services like your Gmail account, Google Apps, Sakai, Box, etc.

PrintND Upgrade

Wednesday, July 10, from 6 to 8 p.m., Office of Information Technologies system engineers will upgrade the server for the PrintND service. During this time, PrintND printers will be unavailable. If you have any questions, please contact the OIT Help Desk at 631-8111, oithelp@nd.edu or chat online at help.nd.edu.
