Hello Dunn County 4-H Families!

I hope everyone has recovered from the fair and is able to have a nice, relaxing August before school starts. I really enjoyed seeing all of the 4-H'ers out with their projects and showing off what they have accomplished this last year. Another way to show off your accomplishments is by creating a record book!

August is the perfect time to work on your 4-H record books. Although record books are not required, they are a great way to document your 4-H experience, and practice skills like creating a resume and cover letter. They also make you eligible for club and county awards.

Each club will have it's own due date for youth to submit their record books. After they are judged at the club level, club leaders can submit record books for county awards.

Record books are due to the county for county awards on Monday, September 21

Do you have a talent in a project area? Are you a project leader that would like more youth to participate in your project?

Then Project Discovery Day is for you! We are looking for older youth and adult volunteers to lead sessions for the Project Discovery Day that will be held on Saturday, November 14th.

In the past we have had sessions on Dogs, Small Animals, Art, Circuits, Canning, and Cake Decorating. We welcome anything that is hands on and engaging.

Do you want to help out, but don't want to lead a project? Sign up. We'll find a place for you.

Starting September 3rd 4-H members and volunteers need to re-enroll on www.4honline.com. We ask that you complete your re-enrollment by October 31st.

Youth who are not enrolled by October 31st will not be covered by the 4-H insurance, and not able to participate in 4-H activities.

Volunteers who are not enrolled and have their trainings complete by October 31st will not be able to work with youth.

Please complete your re-enrollment as soon as possible so you do not miss out on any of the great 4-H opportunities.

Congratulations the junior and senior dairy judging teams on their win at Area Animal Science Days and their trip to the state competition! They will be competing on August 23rd in Madison.

Calling all race fans!!!

Join us for the  4-H Night at the Races on Friday, August 14th!  The Speedway is giving FREE admission to ALL Dunn County 4-H members and $5 off tickets for parents!  We will have a pre-party with food, lawn games, and activities for the kids.  We will also our own section and go to the infield to say the 4-H pledge.

The pre-party will start at 5pm. If you are interested in attending, please let us know by filling out the form below.

Little Elk Creek 4-H Club will once again be hosting the Kids Vs. Parents kick ball game!

The game will be on Sunday, August 16 from 6:30- 7:30 at the Little Elk Creek Field. All Dunn County 4-H youth are invited to attend.

Directions to LEC Field:

 Take CTH J East of Menomonie about 4 miles. Watch for the sign and turn onto 410th Ave, field is on the left. You’ll be able to see the field from CTH J.

Are you running out of things for your cloverbuds to do this Summer? 4-H has got you covered!

Check out the Cloverbud Activity Packet with projects to do at home or with your club. Need more ideas? Reach out to the extension office for more project resources.

Would you like to get away? Do you want to travel to a new place and meet new people? If so, a state experience is for you!

Wisconsin 4-H put out the 2026-27 State Programs and Experiences Program Guide. In it you can find information on state and national experiences as well as a variety of state-wide competitions.

Additional funding is available through the Leaders Council to help lessen the cost barrier.

Not quite sure what to do for your record book? This month, the exploring 4-H series focuses on record keeping. It shows the importance of record keeping and how adults can help their youth reflect on the previous 4-H year.

Being new is scary.  Please don't hesitate to reach out to Zac or your club leader if you have any questions.  We're here to help.

County-wide project meetings are open to any 4-H member who meets the age criteria.  If you are unsure about adding a project area, these meetings are an excellent way to explore and learn more.  Reach out to the extension office or project leaders for more information.

4-H On the Air is a fun and unique opportunity for the youth, and a great way to promote your club and Dunn County 4-H. Interviews can be done at the station or by phone.

The Dunn County Leaders Council is excited to help fund your 4-H trip!  The Leaders Council is committed to funding 25% of all state and national trips and experiences. The Leaders Council may fund at greater amounts depending on the number of participants and budgetary allowances.

The Leaders Council supports youth in excelling in 4-H activities by helping to remove financial barriers.  If your youth needs financial assistance for a 4-H project or activity, email zachary.rozmiarek@wisc.edu.  All requests are voted on by the Leaders Council and are kept anonymous.

The Leaders Council will meet on Wednesday, August 26 at 6:30pm in the Lower Level of the County Government Building.

The Leaders Council isn't just for club leaders.  ALL Dunn County 4-H parents and volunteers are invited to attend.  If you are looking for a way to support the Dunn County 4-H Program, the Leaders Council is for you.

Parents and volunteers are welcome to join online or in person.

The Leaders Council is looking for volunteers who would like to serve on a committee.  If you are passionate about helping youth, and would like to help fund raise, organize events, or assist with awards, reach out to Zac for more information.
