Tri-County RPAC Telethon Raises Thousands for Real Estate Advocacy |
|
|
Last Tuesday, June 10th, REALTOR® members rallied together for the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) at the Annual RPAC Telethon. Twenty-seven dedicated volunteers championed the mission of the RPAC, illuminating exactly how legislative decisions shape the future of real estate, resulting in over $43,000 raised in just one day.
225 of their fellow members invested in RPAC during the telethon. This tremendous outpouring of support significantly bolsters our legislative influence, empowering REALTORS® to safeguard both the real estate profession and homeownership.
The Association congratulates, REALTOR® member, Terese Brittingham for raising the most overall investments, and for successfully soliciting the most investors for the 2nd year in a row! Ditch the Car? Renters Could Save Thousands with Public Transit |
A new report from Point2Homes finds that renters could save big by trading their car keys for a transit pass.
Key takeaways:
The average U.S. renter spends $8,000/year on driving—15% of their income.
Public transit could save renters up to $7,165 annually.
In 27 out of 30 cities studied, renters would save more than a month’s salary.
Philadelphia:Â Car costs $9,135/year vs. public transit at $1,152 =Â $7,983 in savings.
Pittsburgh: Switching to transit could save renters $6,285/year.
But: Car commuters save time—25 minutes/day in Philly, 19 in Pittsburgh.
Savings are significant, but for some, the extra commute time may be a deciding factor. For the full article on PAR's JustListed Blog, click here.
