WINTER DRAMA PERFORMANCE - TICKETS ON SALE NOW!

We are proud to announce that the winter play for 2019 will be Trap by Stephen Gregg!

ENACHAP, CALIFORNIA. An incomprehensible event at a local play. Using interviews with witnesses, loved ones, first responders, and the investigators pursuing the case, a theatre ensemble brings the story of the strange event to life, documentary-style. But as the strands weave together into an increasingly dangerous web, it becomes clear that this phenomenon might not be entirely in the past. Unnerving, exhilarating, and wildly inventive, you’ve never walked into anything quite like Trap.

Performances for Trap will be at 7:30 pm on March 2nd and 8th and at 2pm on March 3rd and 9th. Tickets are on sale now and seating is limited.

Sports Recap, Week of February 11

Girls win RVAL Sportsmanship Award
For the second year in a row, The Academy's girls basketball team has earned the RVAL (River Valley Athletic League) Sportsmanship Award! This award is based on opponents' feedback about their experience playing against our team. You make us all proud, girls! Congratulations!

Game Report
The team had an impressive performance against Stoneleigh Burnham School on Monday. Although they lost this RVAL playoff game, the 18-6 score was one of the closest the girls have had against SBS's strong program. Elaina GB, Addie C, Eliza B, and Cristy K all contributed to the scoring, while Ruby C had several rebounds. The girls' final opponent will be the faculty at 3:30 PM on Thursday, February 21st. Please come out to watch at the Cowell Gym (51 Maple St, Shelburne Falls)!

Thursday, February 21st Transportation/Pick-up
All students staying after school (beyond 3:15 PM) on Thursday, February 21st will be participating in, or spectating at, the faculty-student basketball game. There will be no drama rehearsal, rec skiing, or after school study hall.

Families are welcome to join us there.

NOTE: the Northampton and Amherst buses will depart from Cowell Gym on Thursday, February 21st and run the normal late bus route schedule. Other students can be picked up at the Cowell Gym (51 Maple Street in Shelburne Falls) at 5:15 PM.

Classroom Close-Up:  Physics

Mr. Almeida's Physics students apply their understanding of Newton's Laws of Motion to an Atwood's Machine setup, in order to experimentally determine the mass of found objects (in this case a spool of solder and an old tape dispenser).
