Dear Friends of the India Center,
As summer has started, we are excited to share some India Center updates with you. One of our highlights this spring was the establishment of the new Professor T.G. Srinivasan India Center Scholarship for UCF students to participate in a study abroad opportunity in India. The scholarship is supported by UCF alum and Orlando community member Kannan Srinivasan '96 (M.S.), and we are grateful for setting up this scholarship in memory of his father. Another highlight was our inaugural in-person conference on India – Growth, Challenges and Opportunities. Speakers included experts from academia and think tanks and the conference was attended by UCF students, faculty, and staff as well as community members. Many of our other events also discussed different facets of India as the most populous country globally.
Our distinguished guests during spring semester included the Consul General of India, Atlanta, Ramesh Babu Lakshmanan, who visited campus for a day. We also welcomed Fulbright-Nehru scholar Lalitagauri Kulkarni, Ph.D. for several days of presentations and meetings. As we continue to build partnerships with institutions in India, we welcomed two delegations from Indian universities on campus to explore opportunities for collaborations.
We wish you a wonderful summer and hope to see you when we resume our events in fall semester!
