Graduate Offers Wisdom During Graduate Commencement Speech |
Daamini Visaalaakshi, MSAE 2024, was the student speaker for the inaugural College of Engineering Masterâs Ceremony. Her speech, The Missing whY, focused on staying true to her journey, speaking with authenticity and ensuring that every graduate and their support system felt the pride of the moment and of finding purpose.Â
"One thing Iâve learned from my journey at Tech is that our purposeâour âwhyââcan sometimes feel unclear or buried, especially when things get tough and motivation fades. Whether youâre in school, starting a new job, or building something of your own, there will be times when you feel that something essential is missing. In those moments, pause and reflect on the positive forces that can keep you moving forward. Theyâll help you build momentum and rediscover your âwhy.â Trust in your thrust! Just like thrust helps an aircraft overcome drag, those forces will keep you moving through lifeâs turbulence," Visaalaakshi shared.
