Tennessee Legislature Approves Physician-Friendly MOC Bill
Maintenance of Certification has been an important issue to Nashville physicians for many years.  The Nashville Academy of Medicine is proud to have been instrumental in bringing this important issue to the forefront, and excited Nashville physicians were included in testimony to the task force assigned to study MOC.  This new law that will ease the costly, burdensome, and in many cases, mandatory requirements for doctors to maintain specialty board certification. The Tennessee General Assembly unanimously approved the measure after a two-year effort to persuade state lawmakers to take action on what has become a hot button issue for physicians across the U.S.  Click here to read the full press release.
Doctors' Day on the Hill Highlights
More than 300 physicians and healthcare advocates, including more than 50 NAM members, gathered for TMA's annual Day on the Hill on March 6 in support of better statewide healthcare policy. Day on the Hill gives physicians the opportunity to meet with lawmakers who make important public policy decisions affecting the delivery of healthcare in Tennessee.

Top agenda issues for 2018 include the opioid epidemic, episodes of care, and balanced billing, among others. NAM and TMA members lobbied throughout the day at the Cordell Hull Building and gathered for an evening legislative reception at the nearby DoubleTree Hotel. Tuesday, April 10 - Educational Meeting
Join NAM and member Bob Neaderthal, MD on Tuesday, April 10 at 6 p.m. at NAM's office for an educational session on getting effective prior authorization and avoiding peer-to-peer calls.

During this session, Dr. Neaderthal will teach attendees how to avoid prior authorization calls for advanced imaging studies such as CT, MRI, PET scans and nuclear cardiac tests. Prior authorization and peer-to-peer calls have become two of the most cumbersome and time-consuming administrative burdens providers face in their practices every day, and most peer-to-peer calls are avoidable.
