| Providing Medical Respite for People Experiencing Homelessness During COVID-19Tuesday, August 11, 12-1:30 CT

Medical respite centers have played a critical role in supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, as well as hospitals experiencing a surge in capacity, during the COVID-19 pandemic. On Tuesday, August 11, from noon-1:30 p.m. CT, a webinar coordinated by the Center for Health Care Strategies and the National Health Care for the Homeless Council will highlight the experiences and innovations of three medical respite centers in California and Washington state. The webinar is made possible through support from the California Health Care Foundation.
Presenters will provide an overview of their programs and share how their medical respite centers responded to COVID-19, including changes to program design, procedures, and community partners, as well as lessons for improving their services for people experiencing homelessness.

| The Council Seeks Medical Respite Coordinator

We're looking to expand our medical respite team! The Medical Respite Coordinator will work with the Director of Medical Respite on projects of the National Institute for Medical Respite Care (NIMRC) and the Respite Care Providers’ Network (RCPN). Job responsibilities will involve completing pre-defined projects scoping the areas of technical assistance, education, training, and research, as assigned. Completion of these tasks will involve regular communication with the RCPN/NIMRC community to gather information and resources needed to execute this work well.

| Are We There Yet? Achieving Behavioral Health IntegrationThursday, July 30, 1-2:30 p.m. CT

Strengthen your health center’s integration of behavioral health services by registering for a webinar being presented tomorrow from 1-2:30 p.m. CT by the HRSA Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health Technical Assistance. During this webinar, subject matter experts will describe models and elements of effective behavioral health integration; outline steps to become more fully integrated; explain methods to measure the impact of integration; and identify strategies that can be used to adapt behavioral health integration to telehealth. Staff from health centers, look-alikes, PCAs, HCCNs, and NCAs are invited to participate. New users will need to create an account before registering.

Yoga instructor Deirdre Hoey (LCSW-C, RYT200) is a therapist at Baltimore’s Health Care for the Homeless program with over a decade of experience creating trauma-informed and restorative spaces for health care providers and people with the experience of homelessness. | Introducing Council R&R and a New Publication Schedule for Solidarity

Beginning August 5, Solidarity will move to an every fourth week publication schedule. Solidarity will remain issue- and education-focused, and include information such as recommended reading and "In the News" features.
On August 19, the Council will introduce a new publication that highlights webinars and other key events, as well as registrations, resources, and job openings in a concise and easy-to-read format. Council R&R will highlight webinars and other key events so that readers can stay informed about opportunities from the Council, its members, and partners. Council R&R will be published every four weeks, with two weeks between each issue of Solidarity and Council R&R.
