Hello Authorized Payers!
Whether you are a new authorized payer or have supported a UC San Diego student before, we’re glad you’re here.
As an authorized payer, you can help your student stay on top of important billing and payment deadlines. Below are key dates, reminders, and resources to help you prepare for the quarter.
📅 Important Fall Billing Dates
- September 15: Non tuition charges due, including housing, parking, bookstore charges, and other campus fees
- September 30: Fall tuition and registration fees due (major deadline!)
To avoid financial holds and other potential impacts to your student’s account, please make sure applicable charges are paid by the posted due dates. For additional important dates, including financial aid disbursement, health insurance waiver deadlines, and payment plan enrollment deadlines, please review the Fall Quarter Billing Newsletter.

💸 Sending a 529 Payment by Check
If you are not using the electronic 529 payment option available through TritonPay and will be sending a paper check, please initiate the payment as early as possible to allow sufficient time for delivery and processing.
When setting up your payment, please confirm:
- Institution: UC San Diego (University of California, San Diego)
- Address: 9500 Gilman Drive MC 0009, La Jolla, CA 92093
-
Student TSN: Include your student’s Triton Student Number (TSN) with the payment so it can be applied to the correct account
If a 529 payment has not been applied to your student’s account by the applicable deadline, please submit a ticket through the Student Services & Support Portal.
💡 Helpful Resources
💳 Monthly Payment Plan Options
Need more flexibility when paying eligible charges? UC San Diego offers two installment plan options.
-
Triton Registration Installment Plan (TRIP): TRIP allows eligible tuition and registration fees to be paid in three monthly installments. Enroll by September 30 for the $40 early enrollment fee. After September 30, the enrollment fee increases to $65
-
Housing Installment Payment Plan (HIPP): HIPP allows eligible housing and dining charges to be paid in three monthly installments. Enroll by September 15 for the $40 early enrollment fee. After September 15, the enrollment fee increases to $65
Important: If your student needs to enroll in both TRIP and HIPP, they must enroll in each plan separately. We recommend enrolling in TRIP first, then returning to enroll in HIPP.
💰 Direct Deposit for Refunds
If your student is expecting a financial aid refund or another credit balance refund, encourage them to enroll in Direct Deposit via the My Bank Accounts App in TSS. Direct Deposit is the fastest and most secure way for students to receive eligible refunds. Students who do not enroll may experience delays while waiting for a paper check to be mailed and delivered.
🛡️ GradGuard Tuition Insurance
UC San Diego partners with GradGuard to offer optional tuition insurance.
This coverage may help protect your student’s educational investment if they need to withdraw from the university due to a covered illness, injury, or other qualifying reason.
🚨 Watch Out for Scams
Please be cautious of phishing emails, phone calls, text messages, and fraudulent websites requesting personal or payment information. UC San Diego will never ask you to provide sensitive information through suspicious links or unsolicited communications. When in doubt, review our resources for protecting yourself from online scams.
