“How Fatal School Shootings Impact a Community’s Consumption” is forthcoming in the Journal of Marketing Research from John Costello, assistant professor of marketing in the Mendoza College of Business. Researchers noticed a measurable decline in consumer activity for up to six months in communities following a fatal school shooting.

Corporate boards with more women in positions of power lead to safer workplaces

New research, led by Kaitlin Wowak, associate professor of business analytics at Mendoza, and Yoonseock Son, assistant professor of information technology, analytics, and operations at Mendoza, finds there are fewer accidents and injuries on the job when boards have more women, particularly when women hold powerful positions on key board committees.
