You and your family are invited to kick off the Inauguration festivities with a celebratory picnic from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Library Lawn. Enjoy free food trucks, lawn games, and a special performance by Irish band The High Kings.

The College of Science has created a new, strategic faculty position: professor for the public understanding of science. Renowned chemist and science communicator Kate Biberdorf, popularly known as “Kate the Chemist,” will be the first to hold this prestigious position, starting September 1.

Research
A real mess: Cleaning up forever chemicals
Cosmetics. Fast-food wrappers. Period products. Dental floss. Eye drops. These are just a few items in which researchers have found PFAS, known as forever chemicals. Kyle Doudrick, an associate professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences, focuses his research on identifying viable, cost-effective solutions to treat emerging contaminants and improve conventional water treatment processes.
