ETL NEWS • 2021 • Spring/Summer Edition
Introducing EIO!
ETL has officially launched eLearning Instructor Orientation, a crash course in teaching online for those who are not developing their courses. Check out the EIO flyer and feel free to share!
Anyone who plans to teach online (synchronously or asynchronously) or in hybrid modality and is developing their own course is encouraged to sign up now for our program for QEPO certification.
Best practice: Classroom Formative Assessment Strategy
Interested in polling?
Turning (previously TurningTechnologies) offers a variety of polling options for instructors. As UAH transitions back to more face-to-face instruction, consider if mobile or clicker polling options are right for you.
Zoom/Respondus Feature Not Ready for Use (ATTN: Respondus Users)
You may see a new option in your Respondus settings. Please don’t try this yet. ETL staff will keep you posted regarding when this feature is safe to test!
Need technology equipment to borrow?
Need an iPad, a laptop, webcam, microphone or Wacom stylus/monitor to teach your course remotely? The library has a limited supply for you to check out for the semester as a faculty member. Here are Salmon Library's instructions and information.
Important TIPS for all faculty & instructors
Do you teach a course with multiple instructors? If so, avoid concurrent grading on a single assignment. Multiple graders saving their work on a single assignment simultaneously can lead to confusion and lost effort.
Your Summer/Fall 2021 courses will start appearing in Canvas soon. If you do not see a course upon login to Canvas you may need to customize your course list so that your courses appear on your Dashboard.
If you plan to import content from a course that used Zoom, please watch this video tutorial.
If you would like to cross-list (merge) your courses, please contact Canvas Support for assistance.
Canvas support is available 24/7 via the Help link on the Canvas global navigation menu. Choose from the Email (Report a problem), Phone, or Chat options.
Panopto Support is available 24/7 by calling 855.765.2341.
For help with other technologies, please contact the OIT Help Desk (256.824.3333; helpdesk@uah.edu).
