Spoken Word in Action

Last week, Admission Director Michael Jennings spoke to the freshman English classes about Spoken Word poetry ... and even performed some of his own original pieces.
Afterwards, English teacher Shane Gilbert told us:
"I saw sparks flying after Mr. Jennings made poetry accessible and possible for our students. He wrote the poems he recited, and he was genuine and honest with his poetic journey, so everyone walked away with an appreciation for the artform. Several students told me they were so inspired they now felt compelled to write their own poetry. I truly believe this is the kind of classroom experience these students will remember as their favorite class of the year."
