This event on Tuesday, October 14, at 9 a.m. will honor the intellectual legacy of the late Daniel Dennett, whose work has shaped contemporary debates in philosophy, cognitive science, and artificial intelligence.

On Tuesday, October 14, at 4:30 p.m., join us in Tisch Library for an evening of discussion around expanding the scholarly conversation, bias in academic publishing, and ways the MyTERN Conversation podcast helps enact restorative justice. Light snacks and beverages will be provided.

On Wednesday, October 15, at 12 noon, we invite all Tufts students to attend our annual fall reception for free lunch, community, and networking across campus. Join the Tufts Career Center on Thursday, October 16, at 6–8:15 p.m. in Breed Memorial Hall (51 Winthrop St.) as we welcome Tufts alumni and industry professionals who represent career pathways in biology, biotech, biomedical sciences, biopsychology, chemistry, biochemistry, engineering, and many other areas. Following an industry panel, we'll have open networking with a variety of employers who are eager to speak with students.

On Thursday, October 16, at 6–8 p.m. at Cummings Center The Lantern (177 College Ave.), the Office of Alumni Engagement, in partnership with the Career Center, Tufts Lawyers Association, and Pre-Law Society, invite you to a legal field networking event featuring dynamic conversations with attorneys across diverse practice areas and insights into career trajectories, clerkships, and law firm life. Light refreshments will be served. Business casual attire is encouraged.

On Thursday, October 16, at 6:30 p.m., view two faculty films and a post-screening Q&A with Khary Jones and Kyle Petty about the filmmaking process and their film festival experiences. This free event is open to all students, faculty, and staff.

The three-part series is designed to inspire students, university leaders, funders, and other partners to embrace Youth-led Participatory Action Research (YPAR) as a powerful and transformative research method. The webinars will be held on in October on Fridays at 9–10:30 a.m.

Join Sex Health Representatives (SHR) on Friday, October 17, at 12 noon–2 p.m. on the Campus Center Upper Patio for a fun, educational sextravaganza celebrating the breezy fall season! Stop by for carnival games, food, and prizes or just to ask some questions and grab free condoms and other sex health supplies. Don't miss this fall fest full of pumpkin spice, knowledge, and fun!

Grab your costume and enjoy Halloween Somerville-style on Sunday, October 19, at 2 p.m.! Enjoy two music stages, a community Halloween parade, local food and craft vendors, pumpkin carving, performances, and other Halloween fun for free.

Are you looking to meet new people? Join Project Connect! Project Connect is a six-week, peer-led program that aims to help students meet new people, talk, and create meaningful connections. Space is limited. Groups will begin meeting the week of October 12.

Tufts Admissions will soon be hosting Voices of Tufts, an overnight program for high school seniors, on Sunday, October 19–Monday, October 20. We are seeking undergraduates who live on the Medford/Somerville campus to host one or more prospective students overnight on Sunday, October 19. To sign up, log in to SIS, select Student Living, and select MyJumboLife portal to access the Voices overnight host form ("Voices of Tufts Overnight Host Signup"). Majors Month Starts October 20!

Majors Month is to help support your major exploration and declaration in Arts and Sciences, Engineering, and SMFA. More information and the full schedule of Majors Month will be announced on your Academic Essentials Canvas course and Jumbo Digest.

Many cities, towns, and states have local elections coming up in early November. Students who are U.S. citizens are generally permitted to register to vote at either their permanent address or their campus address; it's your choice. Whichever you choose, your vote makes a big difference in local elections because turnout is lower. You can use Tufts TurboVote for free to check if there is a local election coming up for you, register to vote, or update your registration.
