As we near campus reactivation, information and guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy environment for staff, students, and faculty develop daily and are communicated frequently. The University's COVID-19 and Reactivation website remains the best resource for the most current information, frequently asked questions, recordings for campus forums, student messages, and leadership statements.
Additionally, the SCL Staff website is a great resource for divisional updates and news, the NEW job share tool from SCL HR, and upcoming SCL events and workshops for all staff. Learn more about these items and other ways to stay informed in the newsletter below and please keep an eye out in the coming days for information regarding volunteering at move-in!

Staff Feedback Forums
As the university continues a phased re-entry to campus, it is critically important for the administration to continue dialogue with staff and gather feedback and input on matters that are central to our workplace environment. Over the summer months, the Employee Assembly will hold several focused 30 to 45-minute forums and other 60-minute open forums.

NEW Help Support Our SCL Teams
We are excited to announce our new job share opportunity site for SCL employees. Our hope for this program is to fill any short term needs to help us get ready for what we know will be a difficult semester and address any gaps due to the hiring freeze. When the SCL HR team becomes aware of a divisional need, it will be posted to the SCL job-share opportunity site. We will share these opportunities through email newsletters, the SCL Staff website, and they can be viewed on the SCL job-share site.
If you are interested in a job share opportunity, please connect with your supervisor. These unique times give us chance to support each other in ways we haven’t seen before and we’re confident in our ability to pull together to help each other out. Thank you to those who have already participated in this program to assist our teams in the Housing Office, Facilities, Advancement, Athletics, and Cornell Health.

Career Services Launches Canvas Course for Cornell CommunityCornell Career Services has launched a Career Development Toolkit in Canvas. Rebecca Sparrow says, "We know that it can be hard for students to fit our workshops and programs into their busy schedules, so we want the information to be available “on-demand” – when it’s convenient and when students are ready for it." The Career Services staff began working on these modules in January, and expanded our initial line-up of modules once we moved to working remotely due to the pandemic. The Toolkit presents interactive exercises covering some of the primary components of our services, starting with Career Readiness, Resources, Networking, Resumes, Letters, Job Search, and Interviewing. Students can complete interactive exercises presented in the modules and follow up with individual appointments to build on the base of knowledge they’ve developed. Students, interested staff, and alumni can enroll in this course.

Cornell Dining Partners with OpenTable joining National TrendOpenTable is partnering with colleges across the country to help them manage dining areas as students return to campus during the coronavirus pandemic. Cornell Dining, who was recently featured in a number of national news sources, will be using OpenTable this fall semester to reduce density in its dining areas.
"One of the biggest opportunities to solve when looking at our reopening plans was how to maintain the required physical distancing in our dining halls,: says Dustin Cutler Executive Director for Cornell Dining. "We were excited to work on a solution by partnering with Open Table to help students navigate to dining rooms that are less populated, to dine at a time that works for their schedules, and to reserve seating in some locations. It’s a great tech solution that is going to allow us to monitor our population density for our guests’ safety, with the added benefits of flexibility and efficiency.”

Cornell Outdoor Education Expands Student AccessIn an effort to increase accessibility to Cornell Outdoor Education for all students, Julie Carter ’71 and husband Jay Carter ’71, M.Eng. ’72, both former COE board members, have recently established the David Moriah Endowment. The gift is named for their friend and founder of COE, David Moriah ’72. Through the $100,000 endowment, the Carters have already helped eight students receive partial support to cover their course fees, eliminating the price barrier and allowing them to participate.
