Deadline Extended - Thrive! Committees: Call for Nominations
Thrive! is pleased to announce openings on each of our committees: Communications, Engagement, Mentoring, and Professional Development & Networking, as well as the Thrive! Ambassadors group. We invite all members to consider nominating themselves for one or more of these roles.
Leadership positions in Thrive! allow you to play a tangible role in enhancing the environment for women at Notre Dame while developing your own leadership skills in a low-risk, supportive environment. You will have the opportunity to build your network outside of your working group as well as gain exposure to speakers and campus leaders. Committees also offer a place to learn and demonstrate skills you may not have the opportunity to use in your current position.
If you are interested in a committee opportunity, please complete the Thrive! Self Nomination Form by May 1, 2020. If you know someone who would be great, encourage her to apply too! Committee positions are one-year terms beginning July 1; members may serve up to three consecutive terms.
The selection of the Thrive! Committees will be administered by the Thrive! Officers and Steering Committee Chair, with the University's diversity statement in mind.
Decisions will be announced in late-May to give new, continuing, and outgoing committee members an opportunity to work together on transition planning.

Reminder: Mentor ND Pilot
Round one of our MentorND pilot runs until May 8, 2020. During these unprecedented times, we encourage you to continue your mentor/mentee commitments. We can all learn from each other.
Particularly now, sharing our tips, concerns, and advice related to remote work and balancing our new normal, are great ways to utilize these relationships. We encourage you to schedule your remaining meetings via Zoom or to keep your scheduled appointments by simply switching over to Zoom format.
I, as a mentor, reached out to my two mentees to see if they would like to switch our already scheduled meetings to Zoom format. Both agreed.
What stemmed from both of those meetings was amazing. We talked about how we are communicating with our staff during these virtual office times, our struggles and concerns. We talked about how one of my mentees had to postpone her wedding because of stay at home restrictions. One of my mentees has continued to send me articles she finds on best practices on working virtually which has been a huge asset to me. We talked about how we could still be great stewards of the University, and even use this time to build stronger relationships with each other.

What is your favorite book? What did you learn from reading it and/or how did it inspire you?
I recently read Radical Candor, by Kim Scott. My Myers Briggs is ENFJ and I find conflict or difficult conversations excruciating. This book was a great management tool in teaching me the importance of having direct but compassionate conversations.
Why do you enjoy working at Notre Dame?
I love the Notre Dame family atmosphere that you get as soon as you work here. My closest colleagues and the extended Notre Dame family all care very deeply for one another and are invested in the work we do to serve students.
