Starting Monday, Sept. 21, crews will begin concrete demolition in front of the street-level parking garage elevators at Walter U. Lum Place and Washington Street. The work is expected to continue for approximately three weeks.

At least one elevator will remain operational at all times, and a temporary ramp will maintain access to the elevators during construction.

The sidewalk on the east side of Walter U. Lum Place also remains closed. Pedestrians should continue to use the protected walkway or alternate routes.

Additional construction will include sewer replacement on Walter U. Lum Place, which will require daytime street closures and some nighttime work, as well as temporary shoring inside the Portsmouth Square Garage that will affect approximately 80 parking spaces. We'll provide more details about these activities in our next construction update.

由9月21日（星期一）起，施工人員將在林華耀街 (Walter U. Lum Place)及華盛頓 (Washington) 街交界的停車場地面層電梯出入口前方的區域進行混凝土拆卸工程。工程預計持續約三星期。

施工期間，將確保至少一部電梯維持運作，並設置臨時出入斜道，讓公眾可繼續前往電梯。

The Chinatown Branch Library Renovation Project is expected to begin construction in December 2026. Additional updates will be shared as the project moves into the construction phase.
