EVENT UPDATES

Help your community group win $500!

The Love Thy ‘Nati Awards recognize those who have demonstrated environmental stewardship in our community through litter reduction, recycling, sustainability, beautification, or other efforts that improve our local community and environment. Let’s rally around the bright spots of our community, and put the spotlight on those who don’t normally share their accomplishments with the world.

Please nominate a community group or volunteer who brightened your day during 2020 for an award.  Award winners will receive a plaque, recognition for their contributions, and a $500 cash prize for their community group. The last day to enter or nominate someone is Feb 15th.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

VETA UDDIN

Veta is the Beatification Committee Chair of the Evanston Community Council and an overall amazing neighbor to have! In this past year, Veta has hosted countless cleanup days, led the way in establishing three new pollinator garden beds along Montgomery Road, and revitalized Evanston Park by removing tons of invasive species, clearing the way for new native plants and trees.

When KCB is working on one of the Spaces to Places sites in Evanston, whether it be just staff or a large group of volunteers, Veta is always showing up for her neighborhood.  She is NOT afraid to get her hands dirty!

Veta and her partners have big plans for the upcoming year including a 30 tree orchard on Brewster Ave. and a fourth new pollinator bed! As we head into spring, check our volunteer calendar for opportunities to join her and the Evanston community.

Thank you for all you do, Veta!
In 2021, we will be highlighting one of our All-Star Volunteers each month to share with you how special they are. Stay tuned!
