Seven University of Sydney researchers win Eureka Prizes

Engineering and Technology Precinct at the University of Sydney

The University of Sydney scooped up six awards at the 2026 Australian Museum Eureka Prizes celebrating science and science communication. Professor Vincent Gramoli, from the School of Computer Science and founder of the Redbelly Network (NSW) won the Eureka Prize for Outstanding Science in Safeguarding Australia.

Professor Vincent Gramoli researched and designed the Redbelly Blockchain, commercialising it with Redbelly Network. Recognised as the fastest blockchain in production and used by the Reserve Bank of Australia, the cybersecurity software innovation enables users to exchange assets more securely, safeguarding Australia’s financial resilience.

University of Sydney leads Australia in ARC Future Fellowships

The University of Sydney has achieved its strongest-ever outcome in the latest Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellowships round with 9 out of the 39 impact-focused projects awarded to researchers from the Faculty of Engineering.

World-first digital games distribution platform launches at University of Sydney

The University of Sydney has launched Ludolio, a world-first digital gaming platform allowing school and university libraries to lend video games to students for learning and research. Professor Eduardo Velloso from the School of Computer Science is one of the Ludolio creators.
