Expect Heavy Traffic for Student Housing Move-In |
KU employees should anticipate heavy traffic around the Lawrence campus on Thursday and Friday during KU Housing and Residence Life’s move-in process for residents.
Traffic around Daisy Hill is expected to be heaviest from about 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The busiest intersections will likely be 15th and Iowa streets and 23rd Street and Naismith Drive.
Due to ongoing road construction and road closures on Iowa and 19th streets, residents moving in have been provided with alternative driving routes. Closures impacting travel include both the east and west sides of 19th Street at Iowa Street and 19th Street between Kentucky and Massachusetts streets.
Increased traffic could also occur at:
|
- 11th and Louisiana streets, location of GSP and Corbin halls.
- 19th Street at both Ousdahl Road and Ellis Drive, which are the entrances for Downs Residence Hall and Stouffer Place apartments.
|
Maps of each area, which were emailed to incoming residents and their families, can be found at the KU Housing and Residence Life website.
An early move-in for band members, sorority recruitment and other residents took place Saturday and Sunday. Students will also be moving into HERE, Hawker Apartments, McCarthy Hall and Jayhawker Towers on Tuesday.

| Access to 19th Street to Remain Closed |
Access to 19th Street off of Iowa Street will remain closed until roadwork is completed at the intersection.
Earlier this month, the City of Lawrence shifted traffic from the northbound to the southbound lanes of Iowa Street as it reconstructs the road from Irving Hill Road to 23rd Street. To the west of Iowa Street, 19th Street is closed to Constant Avenue. To the east of Iowa Street, 19th Street is closed to Stewart Avenue.
Traffic heading south can use 21st Street as a detour around the closures, and those heading north can use Bob Billings Parkway to Crestline Drive or 15th Street.
For the latest on road and parking lot construction projects, visit the Construction Information and Closures webpage.

| Update Student Mental Health Resources |
Counseling & Psychological Services will announce soon a premier new partner for mental health resources. While the university’s relationship with Telus Health has ended, CAPS expects the new service to be operational shortly after the start of the fall semester.
All units should update their resources to direct students to CAPS — instead of Telus Health — in upcoming communications. Any materials that refer students to Telus Health are outdated and should be discontinued. Please keep an eye out for further updates about mental health resources in Campus Insider.
