Summer Ethical Leadership Fellowship for journalism students and early career journalists: Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics is accepting applications for its 2024 Journalism program.
FASPE Journalism is a fully-funded, two-week fellowship program in professional ethics and ethical leadership that approaches the study of professional ethics by examining the actions and choices of German and international journalists in covering and enabling Nazi policies. It then draws on this historical example to help Journalism Fellows grasp their responsibility as professionals in their field and in their communities and to identify and confront the ethical issues currently facing practicing journalists and media outlets at large. The program takes place in Germany and Poland at the sites of Nazi history, allowing Fellows to benefit from the power of the place and immersive, contextual learning.
The program runs from June 21 to July 5, 2024. All program costs are covered, including travel, lodging and food. The program is planned to take place in Berlin, Krakow, and Oswiecim (the location of the former Nazi concentration camp of Auschwitz). FASPE Journalism applicants must fit into one of the following categories:
1. Have some journalistic experience, whether in a college newsroom or elsewhere, and be enrolled in a graduate program of any kind and planning to work as a journalist;
2. Be working as a journalist with less than 10 years professional experience.
Apply by January 2, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
