Dear Community,
I'm feeling forward movement in the air. Finally. I found this artwork, of 200,000 flags representing all the people who would normally be at the inauguration, so potent.
This newsletter includes a new dispatch about vaccines from my brother, Dr. Jordan Shlain, as well as several films and other things to watch, listen to, read, and enjoy to keep your mind and soul going.
Just before the election, we released a 2min film called Dear Voter. It is very powerful to re-watch it now. It shows not only what we've accomplished, but also how much has changed even in just a few months. Watch it here.
We're also re-releasing our film 50/50, which we released right before the 2016 election. The 20 min film shows the 10,000-year history of women and power and asks what it will take to get to gender equity. The final scene is of women heads of state being sworn in around the world. A great prelude to what we'll see this week -- the swearing in of Kamala Harris and all the other women in the cabinet. Watch 50/50 here.
I also highly recommend watching Ava Duvernay's documentary 13th, which offers powerful context for the BLM movement and recent events at the Capitol.
Below you'll find more things to inspire, make you laugh, make you think, and hopefully, help have a little perspective on everything happening.
To a new chapter. Tiffany

Dispatch #16: Vaccines, Variants, and a Massive Third Wave
by Dr. Jordan Shlain
| |
Welcome to the pas de deux of 2021. Stuck between dangerous new variants and effective vaccines, we are exposing our complicity and hubris in scoffing at basic measures that work. Too many people didn’t take this seriously enough, giving the virus an opening to mutate — creating the horrific third waves sweeping the world . . . which will inevitably lead to more mutations and as I write this a new one just popped up in Japan. Ugh. Sure, the vaccines are here, yet operation WARP SPEED distribution plan is more akin to Warped Speed. Furthermore, the conjured moral state of treating the vaccine like Baby Yoda is creating logistical gymnastics. We can’t sit around, we need shots in arms as fast as we can.

| I started a TikTok account. They are essentially 1-min films, so a good place to creatively sketch. You can check out my brand spankin' new account here.
