We're ThankfulThe great thing about Thanksgiving is that it makes us stop and think about the wonderful things we have in our lives like music! We are so thankful for our School of Rock community - our amazing students, our staff who bring their hearts and souls each week to nurture the next generation of musicans, and to our parents who provide the backbone for it all. Introducing Our New Adult Band Program!It's here, it's here! Our new and improved Adult Band Program is HERE! Sign up for a themed, 5-week session, have a blast and do a show. It's that simple. Holiday Events We're looking forward to our annual holiday parties, Secret Santa, Rookies and Rock 101 performances, and festive cheer here at School of Rock Silver Spring.
Mark your calendars for the following performance dates for Rookies and Rock 101 and our Performance Program show rehearsal events:
Sunday, December 16th
• 12pm Rookies class will perform a Holiday song at 12:45pm - 1:15pm Rock 101 class will perform a Holiday song at 2:30pm
- 3pm Rookies class will perform a Holiday song at 3:45pm
Monday, December 17th - 4:30pm Rookies class will perform at 5:15pm
- 4:30pm Rock 101 class will perform at 5:45pm
- Rap Rock will have it's Holiday party and pot luck during rehearsal from 6-9
Tuesday, December 18th - 4:30pm Rock 101 class will perform at 5:45pm
- 6pm Rock 101 class will perform at 7:15pm
- I <3 Pop will have it's Holiday part, secret sant and pot luck during rehearsal from 6-9
Wednesday, December 19th - 4:30pm Rookies class will perform at 5:15pm

Meet Dexter
What’s your favorite thing to do at SOR? Learning new songs and playing them. It feels really cool to play in the band.
What do you like best about SOR? Having very supportive teachers and they are also really cool.
What advice would you give to a new student? I would say it's okay, I can teach you some stuff.
WHAT ARE YOUR TOP 5 FAVORITE BANDS? Metallica, Rise Against, Green Day, Tool, and Beartooth.

We Rocked Baconfest 2018House Bands from our three schools joined forces and traveled to the beautiful Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania to lay down some tasty licks at the huge festival known as Baconfest. All the kids melded together beautifully and put on a great show. We love when we get to play with Ashburn and Vienna and look forward to doing so again soon!

Auditions are Coming UpWe will be holding auditions in January for both our House Band and new JV bands. One audition and students will be slotted for either band. More details to come, but if you are interested, be sure to speak with Gia or Mike and let your instructor know so you can put your best foot forward.

Holiday and Inclement Weather Closures
With the holiday winter season upon us, we want to remind you about how we communicate closures.
Inclement Weather
We do not follow the county school closures. Frequently they make decisions in the morning based on whether or not the buses can maneuver through the neighborhoods. We make our decision to open/close based on whether or not our staff can safely come to work. If we are open and you cannot make your lesson, we will do our best to find a make up lesson for you but cannot guarantee you will get one.
We will announce our Open/Closed status on inclement weather days by 1PM by sending you an email (Pike 13) and posting on our school Facebook page and in our show groups. So be sure to check your inbox and social media prior to heading out. See our links below and like us on our FB page.
Upcoming Holidays
We will be closed the week of December 24th thru January 1st.
Please Note: Four inclement weather/holiday closures are built into your tuition fee schedule and no make ups are given for these closures. Should we go over the four built in days, we will schedule a make up day to cover the closure. We have already had our make up day for the winter break closure.
