=>Proposed Amendment to Club Bylaws for June 9 Membership Vote

After over a year of discussion, research, and evaluation, the Club 29 Board recommends a change to the club bylaws to elect directors of the club on a slate, rather than by individual head-to-head elections. The vote on the proposal will be held at the regular meeting of the Club on June 9, 2026. Only those present at the meeting will have an opportunity to vote.

Comparison Clubs and History

Research into other large clubs indicates that Club 29 has been much more democratic in the election of officers and directors than Birmingham, Atlanta, and Nashville - our peer clubs representing 3 of the largest five clubs in America. In those clubs, much of the process of officer and director selection is dominated by the club president. In one case, the president appoints his/her own board.

Teacher of the Month - May 2026

In cooperation with the Mayor's office and City Council, the Rotary Club of Okla. City recognizes an outstanding teacher in our community.

Kuwantu Cammon has been named Teacher of the Month for May 2026 .

He sees art as an essential and dynamic component of education, intricately connected to every subject and every aspect of life.

Kuwantu was an Oklahoma City Public Schools District Teacher of the Year Finalist in 2025, and serves as the Visual Art teacher at Britton Elementary School, where he has created an engaging art program that students look forward to attending. Kuwantu designed a curriculum that develops technical skills and fosters creativity, self-expression, and a connection to culture and history. He has transformed the program into an award-winning, vibrant space where art is a gateway to personal growth and academic success.

He integrates his professional artistic experiences into the classroom to show students how the skills they develop in art can translate to real-world opportunities and careers.

About 7 -10 unique and classic cars will be on display. Thanks to Paul Moore for organizing this event!
The weather looks good with about 80 degrees and partly cloudy with just a 24% chance of rain.
