Infertility Awareness WeekApril 24-30, 2022 recognizes National Infertility Week. Left untreated, STIs can lead to long-term health consequences, like infertility; chlamydia and gonorrhea are both preventable causes of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and infertility. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are a public health crisis with substantial health consequences, including compromised fertility, reproductive (and other) tract cancer, adverse pregnancy outcomes, and HIV transmission. This 1-hour webinar will provide a review of highlights from the latest CDC STI Treatment Guidelines, including STI epidemiologic trends and prevention and treatment challenges. 1.0 CNE and CPH available.

Thursday, June 23, 2022This Drop In Active Learning Session joins facilitator Brandi Howard, Ph.D., Head of Medical and Clinical Affairs at Evofem to discuss understanding and supporting client use of the FDA-approved vaginal pH modulator for contraception, Phexxi®. Dr. Howard will provide clinical information and provide an update on research related to future indications (prevention of chlamydia and gonorrhea). She will also discuss interpreting the Phexxi® data and contraception counseling.

CMS Announces Key Actions to Reduce Maternal Mortality and Morbidity
“Everyone deserves access to quality health care, especially as they start a family,” said Health & Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra. “At HHS, we are proposing the ‘Birthing-Friendly’ hospital designation and working with states to provide a full year of postpartum care to ensure all parents have the best care they need – before, during, and after a pregnancy. We will continue to deliver on the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to reduce racial disparities, including those we see in maternal health outcomes.”

From the Office of Population AffairsIn Case You Missed ItHHS awarded $256.6 million in grant funding to support 76 grantees to deliver equitable, affordable, client-centered, and high-quality family planning services. These grants will restore access to Title X services nationwide and fill service gaps caused by more than a quarter of Title X providers withdrawing from the program over the past two and a half years in response to the previous administration’s Title X rule. Breastfeeding and Contraception: Counseling Considerations Job Aid
Family planning providers can use this job aid to inform client counseling on the considerations of hormonal and non-hormonal contraceptive method use during breastfeeding. Family planning providers should support clients seeking to prevent pregnancy in selecting a method that fits their needs and preferences. This job aid also includes information on how to effectively use the lactational amenorrhea method (LAM) for temporary contraception during breastfeeding. Download the job aid.
Measure and Monitor Financial Performance Indicators: Office Hours for Title X Staff

Is your Title X agency unsure how to create an efficient and effective revenue cycle management process or in need of a refresher? The key is to measure and monitor financial performance indicators. Join the RHNTC for a 1-hour session—the first of three interactive office hours on financial practices this year—focused on how financial performance indicators can help you improve the revenue cycle management process. Debbie Sullivan, a health care consultant and former Title X grantee Chief Operating Officer, will provide an overview and RHNTC staff will share related resources and tools. This session is intended for Title X staff (specifically office managers, executive directors, and/or finance managers). Register for the office hours.
Taking Care of Family Planning Providers Who Support Clients Experiencing Intimate Partner Violence WebinarThursday, April 28 at 3pm ET How do the providers at your agency feel when a client says they are experiencing intimate partner violence (IPV)? Responding to a client’s disclosure of IPV is often an emotionally trying situation for health care providers; secondary and vicarious trauma are well documented in the literature. Join the RHNTC for a webinar offering family planning staff (including project directors, project managers, and providers) tools and techniques to help providers cope emotionally when working with clients experiencing trauma and violence. The presentation will also share self-care strategies that providers can use independently when dealing with these situations. This session will be facilitated by Rebecca Levenson, MA, a former Planned Parenthood clinic director and domestic violence policy analyst for the national nonprofit FUTURES Without Violence.
