What’s Next?
Work will begin on the selected projects in the coming weeks. We’ll be back in touch in the early fall as these projects come to life over the next several months.
Students are the decision makers at every step in participatory budgeting.
Last week’s votes were the final step in a process controlled entirely by students. All the ideas were originally submitted by students. Participatory Budgeting Trustees, who are graduate and undergraduate students, worked with relevant Tufts departments to develop those ideas into the final proposals on the ballot, considering feasibility, cost, and due diligence within time constraints. The trustees also created the ballot and tabulated the results. A warm thank you to the student trustees and coordinators who made this year’s participatory cycle possible, and everyone who voted!
Have an idea for next time?
We are considering a second round of participatory budgeting in the future. We welcome everyone to submit an idea for a possible future cycle while this year’s process is fresh in your mind. For information about what makes a project feasible and eligible for Participatory Budgeting, see our Participatory Budgeting website.
Feedback wanted! If you have thoughts about how Participatory Budgeting went this year, we’d love to know your feedback! Whether you have ideas for the process or would like to learn more, we welcome your voice!
