Note from our Office
Dear Calumet County 4‑H,
May is here, bringing longer days, blooming landscapes, and a renewed sense of energy across our 4‑H community. As we head into late spring and early summer, it’s the perfect time to look ahead and get excited about all the opportunities waiting for our youth.
Between May and August, there are so many Spark workshops, camps, and learning experiences available, and I truly hope everyone takes advantage of them. These opportunities allow youth to try new things, build friendships, grow confidence, and dive deeper into the sparks that light them up. Whether your interest is outdoors, hands‑on learning, or leadership development, there is something for everyone to explore this summer.
On a personal note, I’d like to share a small update. Over the past few months, I got married, and my last name has changed from Liermann to Lonergan. As a result, my email address has also changed—please be sure to update your contacts with my new information below.
As always, our 4‑H families, volunteers, and youth continue to inspire me with your dedication, creativity, and enthusiasm. Thank you for all you do to make Calumet County 4‑H such a welcoming and supportive community. I’m looking forward to a busy, fun, and spark‑filled summer ahead!
If you ever need assistance, resources, or ideas, our office is always happy to help. I can be reached on my work cell at 920‑483‑0646 or by email at carlea.lonergan@wisc.edu. Wishing you a wonderful month of growth and excitement,
Sincerely,
Carlea Lonergan

Calumet County 4‑H Attendance & Fair Participation Policy
Being a member of Calumet County 4‑H is about learning, having fun, and being part of a community. There is no attendance requirement just to be a member of 4‑H. You are always welcome to belong, participate, and learn at your own pace.
However, to exhibit at the Calumet County Fair as a 4‑H member—including participating in the Annual Foods Auction—there is an attendance requirement.
✅ Attendance Requirement for Fair Participation To be eligible to show at the county fair, members must attend at least one‑third (1/3) of their club’s meetings during the 4‑H year.
Up to 50% of meetings may be excused and will not count against your attendance. - Excused absences must be communicated before the meeting. - Each club decides who to contact to excuse a meeting (for example, the club leader).
Clubs may choose to set higher attendance expectations than the county minimum.
💚 Why This Matters Meetings help members learn, build skills, and stay connected to their club and community. Attending meetings shows your commitment to your project and to 4‑H—and helps make fair participation meaningful and fair for everyone.
If you have questions or worries about attendance, talk with your club leader early. We’re here to help you succeed!
