Clackamas County Newsletter for Multifamily Property Managers
Winter/Spring 2019
Your quarterly guide to successful recycling & waste reduction
from Clackamas County's Sustainability & Solid Waste Program
Recycling Requirements
In this first e-newsletter of 2019, we want to remind you about Oregon's Opportunity to Recycle Act. In Clackamas County (and Multnomah and Washington counties), property owners/managers are required to provide residents access to regular recycling service, as well as recycling education (at least annually).
To help fulfill this requirement, we offer eduactional materials. To request free waste reduction and recycling resources, contact us today or use our online order form
Have communities outside of Clackamas County? See our list of regional multifamily contacts throughout the tri-county area.

National Prescription Drug Take Back
The DEA's national prescription drug take back day is coming!
Saturday, April 27, 2019
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Many communities have their own local events that coincide with the national event, and others have an event the preceeding or following weekend. Keep your eyes open for local events near you.
Not able to make your local event? There are numerous year-round drop-off locations throughout Clackamas County. You can also use the DEA's search tool to find locations near you!
Help Protect our Waters
Keeping unused medications out of our water is one way to protect our salmon and waterways. Making sure your garbage containers aren't leaking is another.
Leaking containers contaminate our streams and attract pests. If you notice your garbage container is leaking, contact your garbage collector and let them know so they can swap it out. If you use a trash compactor, make sure the seal isn't leaking; if it is, get it fixed right away. These simple improvements benefit residents, your community, and the environment.
Inclement Weather
As snow and ice continue to be in the forecast, we want to remind customers of the potential for postponed collections.
Safety is the top priority.
Credits are not available for postponed collections due to inclement weather. For more information, visit www.clackamas.us/recycling/inclement.html.
