The latest version of the NSF PAPPG takes effect on February 25, 2019. The Office of Research's Sponsored Projects Office (SPO) has created a guidance document outlining significant changes that will impact NSF proposal preparation. This document is posted on the SPO website.

This announcement seeks proposals from universities to purchase equipment and instrumentation in support of research in areas of interest to the DOD. DOD interests include the areas of research supported by the Army Research Office (ARO), the Office of Naval Research (ONR), and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR). You may submit a single DURIP proposal to more than one administering agency; however, only one administering agency will fund it, if selected. There is no limit on the total number of different proposals you can submit. Awards will fund the purchase of research equipment or instrumentation costing $50K or more that cannot typically be purchased within the budgets of single-investigator awards. The maximum award is $1.5M.

This GCR solicitation targets multi-disciplinary team research that crosses directorate or division boundaries and is currently not supported by NSF programs, initiatives and research-focused Big Ideas. Proposers must make a convincing case that the research to be conducted is within NSF's purview and cannot be supported by existing NSF programs and multidisciplinary initiatives. The proposers should outline a five-year research plan delineated in two phases, Phase I: years 1-2, and Phase II: years 3-5. Successful proposals will be funded initially for two years and then each team's progress will be evaluated based on a report and presentation that the team will make to a panel of reviewers at NSF. Teams that show significant progress during the first two years will receive funding for an additional three years. Interested researchers may request up to $1,200,000 total for the first two years and $2,400,000 for the last three years.

The Office of Research administers the campus selection process for most limited submission competitions. Limited Submission programs restrict the number of applications, nominations, or proposals that an institution is eligible to submit to an agency.
