January Member Meeting Recap:

2023 Ecomomic Outlook

with Carl Tannenbaum
CCAC Members gathered at the Jenner & Block conference center to hear a comprehensive economic forecast from Northern Trust Chief Economist Carl Tannenbaum.
Mr. Tannenbaum is often referred to as one of the most accurate economists in the country. One bright point: He predicted that it is very unlikely that the U.S. economy will go into recession in 2023. There were also in-depth analyses presented ranging from the costs of inbound transoceanic freight to employment statistics and trends.
Thank you very much to Carl Tannenbaum and our friends at Jenner & Block for hosting the breakfast meeting.

Spotlight on Chicago Panel

at the University Club of Chicago

Chicago Deputy Mayor Samir Mayekar and World Business Chicago CEO Michael Fassnacht joined CCAC Executive Director Mark Hopkins for a lively "Spotlight on Chicago" conversation at the University Club of Chicago.
The filled-to-capacity room heard first hand from the City leaders who are instrumental in bringing new business and economic growth to Chicago.  Some of the news uncovered that evening includes:
- Chicago experienced a significant business inflow in 2022 despite the departure of Caterpillar, Boeing and Citadel.
- NASCAR Chicago, the first-ever street race by NASCAR, will be a significant revenue booster not only to hotels, restaurants and local businesses, but also to the City and Chicago Park District.
- The LaSalle Reimagined project that provides incentives to convert existing office space to residential uses with significant affordable housing has generated several proposals from building owners and developers.
CCAC was well represented in the audience and members asked several important questions of the panelists.
