With the fall 2024 semester underway, I want to extend a warm welcome from the Graduate School to graduate students who are new to the Forty Acres and those who are continuing their studies. I hope that you are all enjoying the start to the semester diving into classes and research as well as setting aside some time to take advantage of the beautiful weather, watch a football game (hook ‘em!) or visit some great new art exhibits. (The Ansel Adams exhibit at the Harry Ransom Center and the Surrealism exhibit at the Blanton Art Museum look fabulous!)

Whether you are a new or returning student, remember that the Graduate School is here to help you navigate your degree and provide resources for academics, career development and physical and emotional wellbeing. I encourage you to learn about and take advantage of the many resources available to you—including those listed below.
I also want to share the exciting news that the Graduate School is now the home of the Office of Graduate Career and Life Design, previously known as the Advanced Degree Team in Texas Career Engagement. We are looking forward to furthering their amazing work with graduate students supporting you on your academic and career journeys. You can find more information about their work below.
This is the semester's first edition of a newsletter that seeks to share resources from the Graduate School and our campus partners, celebrate the accomplishments of graduate students and provide reminders about important, upcoming deadlines. We will send a newsletter each month throughout the academic year. If you have ideas about additional information you would like to see in future newsletters, let us know. We’d love to hear from you at graduateschool@austin.utexas.edu.
Sincerely,
