I am proud to share our new leadership structure within the UC San Diego Department of Neurological Surgery. As our subspecialty programs have expanded and matured, we have evolved to a division chief leadership structure to recognize our spectacular destination faculty and strengthen our clinical, research, and educational missions.

These appointments reflect the nationally-recognized expertise and dedication of our faculty. As specialty leaders they will help define their fields, foster collaboration, mentor the next generation of neurosurgeons, and ensure we continue to deliver world-class patient care.

"I am committed to building integrated, multidisciplinary care for complex brain tumors, using advanced technologies like machine learning and augmented reality to improve outcomes, while driving translational research in cancer neuroscience, epigenomics, and targeted therapies."

"I am looking forward to collaborating with our talented team to drive innovation that will advance patient care, and further propel our division’s continued position as a national leader in the field of functional neurosurgery."

"I am excited to provide mentorship and create opportunities for younger neurosurgeons, while supporting and expanding our faculty. It’s a rewarding role that allows me to help the department grow and serve a diverse population of veterans who’ve served our country."

"I am excited to work with my colleagues to expand our role as a leading destination for nerve care. I’m especially focused on advancing treatment for peripheral and spinal nerve tumors and offering cutting-edge nerve reconstruction to improve function and quality of life. A key part of this role is improving access across the UC San Diego Health system, so more patients can benefit from timely, expert, multidisciplinary care."

"I am excited to be Chief of Spine Surgery and to continue advancing our subspecialized, team-based approach to complex spine care. By building collaborative pathways and working closely with other specialists, we ensure patients receive expert, tailored treatment from surgeons who do these procedures every day. Our continued collaboration, education efforts, and national recognition reflect the strength and direction of our program."

"I am excited to step into the new role of Chief of Endovascular Neurosurgery, which formalizes the leadership responsibilities I’ve carried since becoming Medical Director in 2022. I look forward to continuing to lead our clinical, research, and regulatory efforts, especially in maintaining our Joint Commission Stroke Center Certification, and to contributing meaningfully to the department and institution as a whole."

"I am excited about taking a leadership role in the department of neurosurgery as the chief of the division of skull base surgery. A coherent division structure will allow us to strengthen patient care as well as educational and research aspects of patient care. It is my goal to create a framework within the department of neurosurgery that draws focus to this department on the systems level."

"I look forward to continuing to grow our UCSD cerebrovascular practice and taking care of these complex patients. I strive for the simplest and most durable treatment solutions for patients.
