Clinical Research Imaging Center Opens at UTA

The University of Texas at Arlington today opened a new $6.2 million Clinical Research Imaging Center (CIRC). Featuring a 3-Tesla magnetic resonance imaging machine (MRI), the new 3,500-square-foot facility will advance research aimed at unlocking the body’s greatest mysteries. Read more.

UT System Chief Nursing Officers and Nursing Deans are teaming up to safeguard patient care in every crisis – from cyber-attacks to natural disasters – and ensure Texas is ready for any emergency. During their latest Workforce Nursing Collaborative Summit, they toured UTA's Smart Hospital, a state-of-the-art training facility simulating real-world health care scenarios.

Dr. Christi Nguyen Inducted as Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing

Dr. Christi Nguyen was recently inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing during the American Academy of Nursing’s 2024 Health Policy Conference held in Washington, D.C. Christi is an adjunct faculty member in the UTA DNP program and the Associate Chief Nursing Officer at UT Southwestern Medical. Dean Elizabeth Merwin served as her sponsor.

UTA CONHI faculty pictured with the keynote speaker, Shannon Miller, Olympic gold medalist in gymnastics, at the DFW Hospital Council Annual Awards Luncheon. The group was in attendance with more than 600 hospital and clinic executives in the North Texas area. The eight faculty were invited by Dr. Mari Tietze and Steve Love who wanted them to experience the event to meet with other healthcare executives and academic professionals.

Last month, eight UTA nursing students volunteered at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Fort Worth, accompanied by Professor Felicia Ogidan. Together they administered over 50 flu vaccines to members of the community. Additionally, they shared information about resources available within the community, courtesy of the THR community outreach officers.

At the North Texas Commission’s North Texas Legislative Summit, Andrew Hippisley, vice provost for academic affairs, spoke about the University meeting workforce needs with UTA West and the Center for Rural Health and Nursing, reports The Fort Worth Report.
