SDRI's team with Dr. Trang Ly, Sr. VP & Medical Director at Insulet, and Leslie Barrett, MS, RD, CDCES, Director, Medical Affairs at Insulet. As a trusted site for Insulet's clinical research trials, we are excited to share the ground-breaking results from the Omnipod 5 AID System pivotal trial for type 2 diabetes. Read the results here. SECURE-T2D was also highlighted as a breakthrough study of AID in type 2 diabetes by ADA’s official press program.

SDRI's Kristin Castorino, DO, BC-ADM, VP, Clinical Research and Senior Investigator and Kara Hornbuckle, VP, Development & Public Affairs, met up with Francine Kaufman, MD. Dr. Kaufman was honored with the 2024 Lois Jovanovic Transformative Woman in Diabetes Award, presented by the Women's Interprofessional Network of the American Diabetes Association. This award celebrates women who have made significant contributions to the field of diabetes and positively impacted the lives of those living with the condition.

Andrew Koutnik, Research Scientist at SDRI, presented key research findings at ADA of the longest known longitudinal report of a ketogenic diet in a patient at high risk for cardiovascular disease (type 1 diabetes).

SDRI's team enjoyed meeting with key leaders from Mannkind Corporation. Our partnerships with industry leaders are crucial in our mission to improve the lives of those affected by diabetes. By joining forces with industry pioneers, we're accelerating the pace of research.

SDRI's team met up with Dr. Jordan Pinsker, Chief Medical Officer at Tandem Diabetes Care, and Noah Gray, Kansas City Chiefs tight end, who lives with type 1 diabetes.

Ashley Thorsell, MD, presented SDRI's research findings from the clinical research trial, Acceptability and Impact of a Spanish-Language Diabetes Management Smartphone Application (mySugr PRO) in Hispanic/Latino Adults with Uncontrolled Type 2 Diabetes. The results of this trial showed that the mySugr PRO app helped not only improve diabetes self-efficacy and distress, but also motivation and intention to improve blood glucose control.
