NSO Housing/Dining Info Series

Be sure to visit the NSO summer webinar series, which offers sessions covering the housing and dining selection process. In these sessions, you'll learn more about on-campus living in our five distinct neighborhoods and what housing and dining options you have during your two+ years on campus. These sessions will also go over the new housing sign-up process.

How to Sign Up For Your Space

  1. If you signed your Housing Contract, you’ll receive an email from Live On by this Friday (May 28) with your designated 24-hour window to select your room and dining plan. Time slots are randomly assigned across all new students, and available spaces will be evenly distributed across all time slots to make the process fair to all.

  2. New students enrolled in living-learning communities (LLCs) will sign up first, followed by all other new students. To learn more about LLCs and their housing rules visit liveon.msu.edu/LLC-Guide.

  3. To start the sign-up process, log in to your My Housing account during your assigned 24-hour sign-up window.

    If you are signing up with a roommate, the student completing housing sign-up will need the other’s roommate code and MSU email, along with their dining plan selection. Students create roommate codes in their My Housing account. Please note, the ability to choose suitemates will be very limited.

Move-in Details

Fall 2021 move-in will take place Aug. 26-29. Second-year students will move in Aug. 26 and 27, and first-year students will move in Aug. 28 and 29. Juniors, seniors and graduate students can move in anytime after 8 a.m., Aug. 26. At this time, there is not an option to arrive before Aug. 26. Your specific move-in date and time will be shared mid-July.
International students who are new to campus can move in anytime on or after Monday, Aug. 23. If arriving between Aug. 23 and August 25, you will be charged the daily housing rate for your stay, and you will be able to pay for individual meals at the dining halls. More information on booking your arrival before Aug. 26 will be shared mid-June.
