DRAG RESCUE DEVICE (DRD) SURVEY
F.I.E.R.O. takes pride in helping to improve firefighter safety, health and wellness. If you are a firefighter - volunteer or career, male or female - we ask that you take a moment to complete the national "Drag Rescue Device (DRD) Survey."
The NFPA 1971 Standard on Protective Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Fire Fighting technical committee is starting a revision cycle and reviewing current requirements. In the 2007 edition, the technical committee required that every structural and proximity coat include a Drag Rescue Device (DRD). The DRD, not to be confused with a harness or repelling device, was intended strictly as a means of removing a fallen fire fighter from a dangerous environment.
This requirement has remained in the standard for each successive revision and the technical committee has received public input concerning this mandatory requirement. Given this public input, we are seeking information on the use of the DRD.
This survey will take about 10 minutes.
